September 3rd, 2009

While a pearl bracelet speaks volumes of the wearer’s fine tastes, it’s luxury is more affordable than a necklace, and would be a great gift for someone who already wears pearl jewelry.  The delicate sheen of the pearl can be enjoyed peeking out from the cuff of a sleeve more readily by the wearer than other pieces of jewelry.  Seeing your wrist encircled with the classic beauty of pearls can bring to mind timeless tales of love and memories of happy times.  It’s so much more than a piece of jewelry, it’s a daydream of the stunning grace of nature which creates pearls, it’s a fantasy of bygone eras and their opulent tokens of admiration.  Allowing the wearer to fully appreciate the piece, a pearl bracelet is one of the best ways to enjoy this precious gift of nature.

An understated and practical way to enjoy the luster and classic beauty of pearls is in a bracelet.  The gentle touch of the pearls against one’s wrist speaks of beauty, glamor and a timeless sense of style.  A pearl bracelet is sure to become a staple in the jewelry wardrobe as it’s elegant grace will not fade over the years.  This is a quality piece of jewelry to be treasured.  A well-curated personal collection of jewels will hold up across seasons and decades.  Adding a piece with this versatility to ones jewelry collection is a very smart investment.  Wearing a pearl bracelet with more casual ensembles can elevate the everyday to something special.  Pearls have made their way into celebrity jewel-boxes and taken a more prominent place in the tastes of everyday people.  Not just for special occasions anymore, the pearl is a gem to be enjoyed frequently.  The subtle flash of a stunning bracelet across the wrist reveals a cultivated sophistication.

The Different Types of Pearl Necklaces

August 27th, 2009

Pearls have a wonderful radiance and a peace about them that make them great candidates for beautiful necklaces. When it comes to choosing the necklace for you there are several things to consider.

Pearls used for necklaces come in a few different types, a wide variety of sizes, and even a huge assortment of colors. First of all the least expensive pearl is the cultured freshwater pearl. These are grown rather then simply harvested and makes them more prevalent. Next you have a freshwater pearl that is harvested. More expensive options are saltwater pearls such as the South Sea pearl, the Tahitian pearl, and the Akoya pearl. These are more uniform in shape, size, and color. Pearls come in all sizes and colors ranging from pastels to silver to black.

In additional to pearl necklaces coming in a wide range of types, sizes, and colors the person deciding to buy pearls will need to decide how long they want the strand to be. The shortest option is the collar. This necklace hugs the neck closely and is usually about 12 to 13 inches long. Next is the choker which is 14 or 15 inches long. A princess necklace will run from 16 to 18 inches. The matinee necklace is longer at about 20 to 24 inches. The opera necklaces is 32 to 36 inches and the rope necklace is the longest being at least 36 inches.

In addition to pearl type and the length of the necklace you need to consider what it is made out of. Traditionally pearl necklaces were made of creamy white pearls either in a strand or with a solitary pearl on a chain. More modern necklaces include pearls of all colors and even necklaces that have more then one color on a single strand. You can also find necklaces with pearls mixed with gemstones and or crystals. This gives the pearls a unique look while still having the class of the original.

Pearl necklaces have a lot to offer women whether they are young or old. There is a necklace that is perfect for you!

Pearls are beautiful and exquisite, but it’s hard to believe that these small objects are created inside a living shelled mollusk. Ideally, the perfect pearl is round and smooth. Pearl Earrings

July 3rd, 2009

Pearl earrings are one of the most common ways to purchase pearls today, only comparable to a pearl necklace.  Pearl earrings can be found in many stores today, from discount stores to high end retailers.  All, or almost all, jewelry stores today sell pearl earrings.  But there are many other pearl products, such as necklaces and rings.  Earrings tend to be the most popular as more people can afford cultured pearls than completely natural pearls.

Pearls are a beautiful and natural way to decorate jewelry and other fine goods.  Pearls are created by mollusks.  All mollusks produce a substance that can be called a pearl, but not all are jewelry quality pearls.  Pearls can be produced in two ways.  Natural pearls are created by the mollusk when an irritant managed to get inside a shell.  Cultured pearls are man made by putting a starter material inside the mollusk to for it to create a pearl.  Pearls can also come in many different colors, ranging from a brilliant white to a deep black color that has a silver sheen.  Natural, high quality pears have been as highly valued as gemstones for centuries.  Most civilizations around the world know about pearls.  But only in the past one hundred years have people learned to cultivate pearls, only recently have pearls been used only for jewelry.  In the past though, pearls were often worn stitched onto clothing often worn by royalty.  Many medieval and renaissance era portraits of royalty show them with many pearls sewn onto their clothing.

The variety of pearl earrings available to consumers can be vast.  Not all pearls are round, creating tear drops or fused pearls, oval pears and pearls still attached to pieces of shell.  There are simple stud earrings to very complex multi pearl designs.  When choosing earrings make sure you are happy with the style and the shape, along with the complexity or simplicity of the earrings.

Pearl Necklaces

June 24th, 2009

A pearl necklace is a hard object that is created within the shell of a mollusk. it is made up of calcium carbonate in a crystalline mineral form. The usual pearl is perfectly round, but sometimes a baroque pearl can be found. Although pearls can be found in freshwater areas, pearls from the sea tend to cost more. In more modern times, pearls are harvested, and some are just cheap, inexpensive imitation pearl necklaces. The natural ones, found in the sea, are very rare. Even more rare are natural ones of gemstone quality, which are almost always iridescent and/or nacreous.

Centuries ago, a pearl necklace would belong most likely to someone of royal descent. The rarity of gemstone quality pearls makes them ridiculously expensive when compared to the cultured ones. The difference between natural and cultured pearls is seen when carrying out an X-ray examination. Cultured pearls, when compared in X-rays with a natural pearl, reveal that the nucleus of the pearl is “pre-formed” or planted inside it to make it look like a natural pearl to the naked eye. The natural also has concentric growth rings while the cultured pearl has a purely solid center.

Pearl necklaces are especially popular today, but a great deal of them are harvested pearls. The value of a natural pearl can be determined in the same way you would determine the value of another precious gem — quality of surface, shape, size, luster and orient. There is a very small number of stranded, matching pearl necklaces that exist. The largest provider of “fake” pearls at the moment is china, closely followed by Japan, although the entirety of this industry has had to mostly cease it’s production due to pollution. There are three famous ways a person could wear a pearl necklace: the “collar” way, where the necklace sits right against the throat, the “choker” way, which are at the base of the neck, and the “princess” way, where it is located just below the collarbone. The word “pearl” could be used to describe something very rare, and for a good reason.

Pearl Jewelry

June 19th, 2009

Whether you need an anniversary gift or a birthday gift, when it comes to women there’s nothing better than pearl jewelry.  Pearls can be everything from a rite of passage for young girls to a special 50th anniversary gift.  No matter what the occasion, if there is a woman involved, then pearls are a wonderful option.

Talk to women who have special pearl jewelry from someone they love.  They will tell you the entire back-story behind the jewelry and they will have a smile on their face the whole time.  The beauty of pearls is unmatched, even with diamonds.  Sure, diamonds are expensive, but pearls are timeless.  Women who receive pearls as a gift will end up keeping the jewelry for their whole lives.  What other gift does someone hang onto for such a long time?

Another great aspect of pearl jewelry is that it is relatively affordable for how beautiful it is.  Not everyone has thousands of dollars to spend on diamonds.  If you don’t have to take a new mortgage out to pay for your jewelry, why would you?  Why wouldn’t you choose something that is just as beautiful and timeless, but for half of the price.

Make that special lady in your life feel even more special for her next birthday or holiday by giving her pearl jewelry.  This will surely be a gift that she will cherish for many years to come.  Plus every time she looks at the pearls she will think of you.

Don’t be a giver of gifts that are simply returned or re-gifted this year.  This time make sure you are giving something that is meaningful and beautiful all at the same time.  Women love pearls because of their timeless elegance.  Be the person who gives a gift that will bring any woman to tears of joy.  Make her feel as beautiful as she really is with a strand of pearls or pearl earrings.  There are even pearl bracelets.  Be sure you find the one that is perfect for that woman you love.  This will be a gift she really will cherish forever.

Pearl Bracelet

June 18th, 2009

Wow I love pearl bracelets, they say that diamonds are a girl’s best friend, well I think pearls are.  A pearl bracelet is a beautiful accessory for the woman on the go…looks great with any article of clothing.  Pearls have a history of warmth and class.  Pearl bracelets come in a verity of colors, such as, pink, black, white, peach, blue, and lavender.  Strains of every color make a sweet bracelet for all occasion.

Not only woman can dress up with pearl bracelets, so can new born babies.
Baby pearl bracelets are so sweet; I gave one to a lady for her new baby girl. When she brought this sweet child home for the first time, she dress her is a little dress with the accessory of a tiny freshwater pearl bracelet in white.

I was told once of a man who sold all he had to go buy this pearl of great price, it had been bury in a field for some reason, and the gentlemen sold his car and a few gold chains just to purchase this small lot of land where the pearl was hid.  It was said that as he acquired the land he spent the next few days digging for the pearl, and found it, so exquisite it took he breath away, guess what he did with it?  Yes that’s right he made his wife a single pearl bracelet.

The story be hide the pearls as they are made is very fascinating, let me tell some of what I have learned.

A pearl start its life a s grain of sand, this little sand finds itself in-between the flesh of an oyster and rub the flesh raw, so the oyster secretes  and coats the tissue from the sand with nacre which makes the pearly substance, this is the saltwater pearls.  The freshwater pearls are injected with tissue to start this process, the oyster/muscle needs a balance of freshwater and food for feeding, the best place is a river pool that has water flowing to it and out of it.
